That's a striking image Bilbo, but not exactly what comes to mind when I think of "soul mates." Seems kinda eerie to me, actually. What is the story behind it? (I figure it's gotta be some kind of myth, but not one that immediately appears obvious to me.)

I chose this picture Dave because to "me" soul mates" includes, in part, sharing ones deepest desires, hurts, pains, needs, joys, etc. Laying it all on the line so to speak, exposing one's soul which perhaps can best be described in terms of our imagination. Personally I think we have romanticized or idealized intimacy and what it means to be soul mates. I chose this particular picture because the man is exposed from the inside out yet him and his lover are in a pose which also reflects intimacy, an important aspect of soul mates. I was trying to capture an aspect of the "essence" of what it means to be soul mates in a picture. I hope this makes sense?....The picture speaks very powerfully to me and reminds me of the relationship between intimacy, exposing the deepest aspect of our souls and what it means to be a soul mate.

Here's another angle. If you look at the picture carefully you will notice that the inside of the man is exposed both in his face and his chest and to me that reflects his soul which in turn is an important aspect of intimacy which is generally considered a critical component of a soul mate relationship. Hope this captures what I was trying to communicate. I acknowldege it looks eerie but I guess eerie is in the eye of the beholder...eh?
